First, these new "micro-inverters" mount on the back of each solar panel, instead of the large noisy electrical box-type inverter that was formerly mounted on or inside a home. Since each solar module now has its own inverter, efficiency is optimized at the panel level instead of for an entire system. There is no single point of failure.
Second, large conventional inverters generally carry a 10 year warranty and you need to plan for a costly replacement in approximately year 15. EnPhase microinverters carry a 15 year warranty, and it is unlikely that a widespread failure would occur so we plan on replacing 1 per yea
r starting in year 20. In lab tests EnPhase has determined the Mean Time To Failure (MTF) for their microinverters at over 300 years. Check it out.
Third, each individual panel’s performance can be monitored and optimized individually rather than impact performance of the entire array. You can see each panel on a web site at your home computer. In fact, EnPhase will notify us if one of our installations shows an anomolie so we get monitoring feedback.
And one more important thing ... with micro inverters, it is simple to make a green investment incrementally. With zero sacrifice in efficiency or performance, you can now get an expandable system that easily scales from one panel to multiple panels without having to get a bigger inverter each time. Advances in lighting often provide a very strong repayment of investment. We can review a variety of approaches to energy savngs through lighting.
KVAR is a patented system including onsite testing of inductive equipment (anything with a motor or a magnetic field) such as air conditioners, furnaces, compressors, industrial and manufacturing equipment. For commercial clients, we can custom engineer and build a KVAR unit for each piece of equipment to increase efficiency, reduce electrical consumption and reduce its operating temperature thereby decreasing maintenance and increasing the equipment’s operating life. The end result is substantial electrical energy conservation.
